Imphal, April 18: Development and socio-economic condition in Manipur can be uplifted and improved through the medium of co-operative organisations said Hon’ble Minister, Social Welfare & Coop Smt Nemcha Kipgen while addressing as Chief Guest in inaugural function of the One day State Level Seminar on “Sustainable Development of Manipur State through Cooperatives” sponsored by NCUI, New Delhi at GM Hall today.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nemcha Kipgen said cooperative is one such platform where people from different backgrounds can uplift their socio-economic condition through sustainable and inclusive growth of the society. She further stated that many weaving entrepreneurs with advanced technologies have dominated the market. So, the weavers using traditional means of weaving looms cannot compete with advanced technologies and as such lack behind in terms of their source of income. Keeping in mind about the shortage and weakness of such weavers, Hon’ble CM Shri N. Biren Singh has placed a policy declaring the Cooperative as a government department. She appeals the masses in Manipur to use our own home-grown products.
Hon’ble Minister also invited the cooperative organisations to be a part of the Shirui Lily Festival which is schedule on 5th May, 2017.
The inaugural function was attended by Registrar, Coop. Societies Shri L. Nabakishwar Singh, IAS, President, MSCU & Chairman, ICM, Imphal Shri L.Tompishak Singh and Director, ICM, Imphal Dr. N.
