A contractor identified as N Suranjoy Singh of Bashikhong Mamang Leikai has locked up two dormitories of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) Yaralpat today afternoon due to non-release of his construction bills.
The closed dormitories accommodate a total number of 113 girl students, who are now appearing in CBSE examination.
Speaking to the media persons, contractor Suranjoy said that his firm M/S N Suranjoy Singh has constructed the aforesaid works under agreement with TP cell (V) construction agency in the year 2008-09. The school authority had assured to release the payment soon after completion of construction works of girl dormitories, approach road and main gate of the JNV.
The contractor said that he had taken the step to vacate the two dormitories after the concerned authority failed to comply with his demand to made payment of his due bill for the construction works in the Navodaya which were completed in the Month of March 2015.
Suranjoy further added that he has been facing great hardship and economic problem due to non-release of fund and payment by Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti for years.
Applications have been submitted to the Principal, General Manager, RCS Manipur, Deputy Commissioner, NVS RO Shillong and DC Imphal East District. However no response has been made from the concern authority.
Meanwhile, Parent Association of the JNV has condemned the vacation of girl’s dormitories without prior notification during examination time.
