Consultative meet for restoration of peace in Manipur held

A one day public consultative for restoration of peace was held today Lilong Hoareibi College. The public convention was organized by the Forum for Restoration of Peace, Manipur (FRPM). The Forum is constituted by members from Naga, Meitei – Pangal and Gorkhas and was established on May 5 with a mission to restore peace in Manipur.
Convenor of the Committee Ashang Kasar while talking to media persons said that the FRPM was established on May 5 in the wake of the unabated violence that erupted in Manipur since May 3, to bridge the differences between the two effected communities. He said that the members of the committee have been meeting effected members of the communities and has been making all effrt to sort out the differences for restoration of peace in the region.
“Our main agenda is to educate the common people in connection with the series violence in the region”, Ashang Kasar said adding that the common people have little knowledge of the real agenda of the conflict that is haunting the region. He said that if the people have understand the situation of the state then it would not be difficult to restore peace.
Ashanf Kashar further said that the conflict has affected other people who have been residing here since time immemorial. He said that we cannot depend to the government for restoration of the peace in the region but we the people of Manipur need to rise all together and work together for restoration of peace in the region.
To the party directly engaged in the ongoing conflict, Ashang Kashar said that violence is a means to demand something in democracy. “Violence is not the solution and if any community are not satisfy they have to demand in a democratic way to the concern authority and not by using violence against common people of any other community.
The consultative meet was moderated by Co-convenor of the FROM , Syed Siraj Ahmad Merai. President of Imphal Mao Union , Puni Losii Mao, Principal of Lilong Haoreibi College , Dr. Rehejuddin Sheikh, President of RNLM, Mrs. Panmei Chingdilui, Associate Professor of DM College Chanee Raman and President of MGSU, Adikari Gorkha attended as main speakers.
