Consultation program on welfare schemes

One day consultation on the Impact of Social Security/Welfare Schemes in Manipur was organised today by Sustainable Livelihood Forum Manipur (SLF-M) at Manipur Press Club, Imphal. Speaking on the occasion, Shangnaidar Tontang, Convener, SLF-M said that the aim of the consultation is to share overall policy and schemes of the government, the contextual analysis report in aid to welfare programs in Manipur, the beneficiaries of welfare schemes/programs and to implement welfare programs in future.
Tontang further added that the central government had launched various programs and policies for the welfare of needy people and are implementing with the help of the state government. He added that
various programs such as PDS, MGNREGA, etc are implemented in the state but the consultation will focus whether these schemes are reaching to the beneficiaries or needy people. The consultation program was attended by fifty women from across the nine districts of the state. Attending the function as experts, K.
Pradip Kumar, Convener, MACR spoke on the topic of ‘impact of ICDS mid day meal’ and W. Joykumar, Director, HRI spoke about ‘impact of PDS, widow and old age pension, MGNREGA.’
