Imphal, July 27: A Consultation cum public meeting on Systematic Killing of Women and Girls in Manipur, jointly organised 19 different civil organizations WAD, NWU, ATWO, NEDF, UNM-M, SADO, SYDO, NLS, UTDP, MBSCM, RLGU, SRC, YFPHR, RWUS, PHRCC, CSD, IRDC, AMWDO PPS, CWD, KWU AND EEMA was held today at Lamyanba Sanglen, Palace Compund, Imphal.
Speaking on the sideline of the occasion, Ningthoujam Jeevanmala, President of Centre for Women Development, Keishamthong said that the meeting was organised with the objective to prevent the increasing crimes against women and girl child in the society.
Awareness programs and punishing the culprits including social values since their grass root to the children will somewhat prevent the increasing crimes in the state, she added.
Jibanmala also said that the setting up of the fast track court and women helpline is a positive steps taken up by the government in the state.
