Protesting against the alleged lewd comment of union minister, Giriraj Singh against the congress president, Sonia Gandhi, the Manipur Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) staged a sit-in protest on Friday afternoon at BT Road Imphal in front of Congress Bhavan.
Terming the statement of union minister as ‘sexist and racist,’ MLA Victor Keishing, Youth in Charge condemned the union minister for passing such comment against the Congress President, Sonia Gandhi. While speaking to media at the sideline of the protest, Victor said that Sonia is a woman and passing such uncivilized comment against a woman should not be tolerated by anyone. He recalled the incident of brave act by the women of Manipur protesting with bare clothes in front of Kangla gate to remove Assam Riffles and said the women of the state should now react to this comment of the union minister. He said the women worker of BJP in the state should resign as their leaders like the union minister who had taken oath to serve the nation could make such derogatory statement against women.
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi should take a step against the union minister for such intemperate comment against the Congress President, added Victor.
MLA Yamthung Haokip, MLA Amin Shah, Youth President, Amir Hussain, Youth Secretary in Charge, P. Sashikanta, Youth General Secretary, Sunita Konthoujam, etc joined the protest.
