Extended Congress Working Committee of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) convened today at the Ashoka Hotel in New Delhi. This marked the first gathering post the Parliament Election, attended by Keisham Meghachandra MLA, President of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee, and Okram Ibobi Singh, CLP Leader of Manipur.
During the meeting, Keisham Meghachandra put forth a proposal nominating Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition (LoP). He highlighted the urgency of addressing the prevalent issues of violence in Manipur, urging for swift resolutions. Meghachandra commended Rahul Gandhi’s recent Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, commencing from Manipur’s Thoubal, which significantly contributed to the victory of 2 out of 2 Congress MPs from the state.
Highlighting Rahul Gandhi’s unwavering commitment to fostering peace and harmony in Manipur, Meghachandra brought attention to the recent surge in violence, particularly in Jiribam District since June 6, 2024. He expressed gratitude to Rahul Gandhi and the party high command for their dedicated efforts in safeguarding the interests of Manipur’s populace, both within and outside the Parliament.
Moreover, the newly elected Members of Parliament, Alfred Kangam S Arthur and Prof. Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, were introduced to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by MPCC President K. Meghachandra.
