Imphal, Feb 7:

A solemn condolence ceremony was held today at N. Tomchou Higher Secondary School Ground to honor Captain Chiromcha Atoppa, also known as Chirom Robindro (Naobi), of the UNLF’s armed wing, MPA led by Koireng, who lost his life in a recent encounter. The incident took place on January 30 in the Kabaw Valley, a border region between Myanmar and Manipur, where the Kuki National Army (KNA-B) launched an attack.
The ceremony witnessed the participation of Meira Paibis, school students, student organizations, civil society organizations (CSOs), and locals from different parts of Manipur, who gathered to pay their respects. Holding torches in their hands, attendees stood in unison, expressing their grief and solidarity.
Captain Chirom Robindro hailed from Mayang Imphal Thana Awang Leikai. Following the ceremony, his remains were taken through Mayang Imphal Bazaar before being laid to rest at his native place. The gathering also took a collective pledge to continue striving for the causes he stood for, highlighting the sacrifices made by those fighting for the land and its people.
