Result of the Higher Secondary Education Exam conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Education was declared today. The pass percentage this year is 61.11. Out of the total 24742 students appeared in the examination a total of 15120 students managed to get through it. In this examination too, private Higher Secondary Schools and colleges seems to be doing much better than the government runs schools and colleges. As according to the result declared today, 68.34% of the pass students are from the private schools and colleges and 45.78% are from the government run colleges and schools. Unlike the High School leaving certificate examination the numbers of male and female students are not much different. However male students are somewhat better than the female students as the number of male student passed this year is 7791 students and the number of female students is 7228.
In Arts stream a total of 5958 students appeared and 5838 students manage to pass. In Science stream a total of 18,570 students appeared and 18,401 students passed. And in Commerce stream 518 students appeared and out of that 503 students manage to pass.
As according to the data available the pass percentage this year is low if compared with the last four year. In 2014 the pass percentage is 76.89%, in 2013 the pass percentage was 81.44%, in 2012 the pass percentage was 82.86% and in 2011 the percentage was 75.67%.
Education Minister M. Okendro while speaking to group of media said that he is satisfied with the result. He said the pass percentage is reduced this year because the students were prevented from indulging themselves to unfair means. He congratulated the COHSEM staffs for conducting the exam free and fair.
