COCOMI Women’s Wing mobilizes effort to visit Jiribam

IT News
Imphal, July 7:

The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI)’s women’s wing announced that five mothers would be traveling to Jiribam to address the ongoing crisis. Speaking to the media, RK Tharaksana, Assistant Coordinator of COCOMI, talked about how MP Bimol Akoijam spoke candidly about the harsh realities facing the region. However, she stated that “even though the Prime Minister has stated that normalcy is there as schools and colleges have reopened, there are thousands and thousands of people living in the relief camp. PM has ignored our suffering completely.”
She also stated that “the situation in Jiribam remains volatile, with ongoing violence involving guns and bombs.” The 18th Lok Sabha session has also failed to address how the Indian and Manipur governments plan to resolve the crisis, leaving many in the community feeling neglected, she added.
“We, the indigenous people, should become united and face the narco-terrorism of the Kuki-Chin,” Tharaksana urged. She stressed the importance of solidarity among indigenous communities to combat the threats posed by these groups. COCOMI’s women’s wing plans to visit Jiribam to work towards uniting the indigenous community and support local women.
To support their mission, Tharaksana called for donations, emphasizing the need for resources to carry out their plans effectively. “We are planning to go to Jiribam to deal with the work there to unite the indigenous community. We will meet the women over there. Therefore, we are inviting donations. We are going as soon as possible.”
