The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) today criticised the State and Central governments over their handling of the ongoing crisis in Manipur, alleging failure to effectively address security and humanitarian concerns.
Speaking at a public meeting organised by Huidrom Apunba Meira Paibi Lup at Huidrom Community Hall in Imphal East, COCOMI Co-Convenor Yumkhaibam Surjitkumar Khuman claimed that while India responds firmly to terrorism elsewhere, it has failed to take adequate action against armed groups operating in Manipur.
He alleged that several areas previously inhabited by Meiteis remain inaccessible and questioned the government’s inability to restore normalcy despite over three years of conflict. Surjitkumar also expressed concern over recurring incidents of violence and the continued presence of looted weapons.
The COCOMI leader further criticised relief measures for affected families, stating that assistance for livelihood restoration and rehabilitation remains inadequate.
Describing the state government as ineffective in addressing the crisis, he urged authorities to take concrete steps to ensure peace, security and justice for the people of Manipur.
