The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) has strongly condemned the August 14 ambush at Langka (Taniulung) village in Kangpokpi district, in which two Liyangmai civilians were killed and three others injured.
In a statement, COCOMI alleged that the attack was carried out by Kuki narco-terrorists and expressed concern that the incident occurred despite recent government initiatives and security meetings aimed at restoring normalcy in the state.
The organisation also recalled the killing of six Liyangmai civilians in June and said justice was yet to be delivered.
COCOMI questioned the State Government’s ability to maintain law and order, stating that violence has continued for more than three years since May 3, 2023, despite repeated security reviews and assurances from the government.
It said the continued targeting of civilian populations, particularly Meitei and Naga communities, should not be treated as a normal law-and-order issue.
COCOMI urged the governments at the Centre and in Manipur to take immediate and concrete measures to stop the killings, ensure justice for victims and bring an end to the prolonged violence.
