CM Yumnam Khemchand reviews road development and beautification works at Thangal Bazar

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh visited Thangal Bazar today morning to review the progress of ongoing road development, pavement construction and renovation works being carried out across the market area.
During the inspection, the Chief Minister was accompanied by Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency MLA Khumukcham Joykisan, Keishamthong Assembly Constituency MLA Nishikant Sapam, along with senior officials from the Public Works Department, the Municipal Administration, Housing and Urban Development Department, and the Imphal Municipal Corporation.
The visit focused on assessing the pace, quality and coordination of infrastructure works aimed at improving road conditions, drainage systems and the overall appearance of Thangal Bazar, one of Imphal’s busiest commercial hubs. The Chief Minister interacted with departmental officials on site and sought detailed briefings on the status of the ongoing projects.
Yumnam Khemchand Singh instructed the concerned departments to accelerate the execution of development and beautification works while ensuring adherence to construction standards. He said timely completion of the projects is necessary to minimise inconvenience to traders, pedestrians and commuters who rely heavily on the market area for daily activities.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that the ongoing works include road resurfacing, improvement of pavements and footpaths, upgrading of drainage facilities and allied civic infrastructure. The inspection was also aimed at identifying bottlenecks affecting implementation and ensuring better coordination among the executing agencies.
During the visit, the Chief Minister inspected pavement works and beautification measures at various points in Thangal Bazar. He also reviewed the condition of the Nambul River bank and discussed possible improvement measures at Waisel Maril to enhance sanitation and environmental conditions in the surrounding areas.
Later, the Chief Minister offered prayers at Ima Keithel Lairembi at Khwairamband Market, seeking divine blessings for the fulfilment of the aspirations of the people.
The visit forms part of the state government’s broader efforts to strengthen urban infrastructure, improve public amenities and enhance the overall functionality and appearance of major market areas in Imphal.
