Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, CLP leader Keisham Meghachandra among others extended greetings on International Workers’ Day 2026, acknowledging the contributions of workers and reiterating commitments to their welfare and rights.
Chief Minister in his greeting said that May Day commemorates the historic struggles of workers for fair wages, reasonable working hours and humane conditions, and stands as a tribute to their resilience and dedication. Highlighting government initiatives, he stated that various welfare measures have been introduced in the state, including support for education, healthcare, insurance and pensions, while assuring continued efforts to ensure social security and safe working environments.
Speaker Thokchom Satyabrata in his message urged people to honour the resilience of the workforce and renew the commitment to equality, safe working conditions, and opportunities for all.
Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen expressed appreciation for workers across all sectors, stating that their discipline and perseverance remain central to societal and economic progress. She called for renewed commitment to safeguarding workers’ rights, promoting dignified working conditions and strengthening inclusive and sustainable livelihoods.
Leader of the Congress Legislature Party Keisham Meghachandra Singh also extended greetings, expressing solidarity with workers, labourers, farmers and employees. He noted that May Day symbolises the struggle for dignity, fair wages and safe working conditions, and stressed the need to uphold equality, justice and protection of workers’ rights.
