CM sees DESAM’s demand “unreasonable”

Imphal, March 26: Chief Minister N. Biren response to the demand of student body DESAM might add fuel to the anger of the student body, but he is left helpless as he stated the demand as neither reasonable nor legitimate.
DESAM is demanding non-inclusion of MLA Ashaf Uddin of Jiribam Assembly Constituency to the Ministry on the ground that he is not an indigenous people.
Replying to reporters queries, Chief Minister N. Biren said that Ashuf Uddin has been already contested twice in Panchayat Election and the people of Jiribam Assembly constituency have elected him as their representative. He is an Indian and his election is legitimate what can the government do, Biren said.
