Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has exhorted the youth of Manipur to have entrepreneurial spirit so that they can give employment to many other youth instead of looking for government jobs alone.
He was speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the 1st MITCON 2020, a conference of IT companies of the State, at Hotel Imphal today. The conference was organized by Information and Technology (INCOTE) Foundation, a conglomerate body of 16 IT companies of Manipur.
The Chief Minister pointed out that most of the parents wish their children to get government jobs after giving education spending huge amount of money and time. This mindset usually destroys the entrepreneurial spirit of thousands of talented youths, and on the other hand making huge rush for government jobs, he observed. As such, this notion should be given up so that young talents are not hindered to get into innovative ventures, the Chief Minister said.
N. Biren Singh also said that the present Government is ever ready to extend all possible supports to young entrepreneurs and self-employed youths. Apart from StartUp Manipur and bank loans, the State Government had recently launched StandUp Manipur to provide assistance to motivated, hardworking and talented youths.
Expressing satisfaction on building up a collective strength of different IT companies by INCOTE Foundation, the Chief Minister said that such gesture of showing willingness to flourish together would certainly yield dividends in the days to come. He said that the Government is ever ready to extend co-operation in all their endeavours.
Stating that modern development requires uninterrupted power supply, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is looking for a suitable site for setting up of a Solar Energy Park in order to supplement to State’s power requirement.
Maintaining that the BJP-led Government has been trying to reflect ‘human service’ in its governance, the Chief Minister said that different noble schemes are being implemented towards this end. The Chief Minister also urged INCOTE Foundation and different other IT companies to share their ideas and suggestions in applying IT in the execution of Government policies like biometric attendance system for Government employees, Go to Village Mission, Inner Line Permit System, School Fagathansi Mission, e-marketing etc.
Former Ambassador of India to Syria, Afghanistan and Myanmar Gautam Mukhopadhyay, Secretary (IT) Smt. Jacintha Lazarus and INCOTEF President Piyananda Wahengbam were also seated on the dais as dignitaries.
