CM opens AI Career Hub, Science Congress; Calls for honesty, humanity and peaceful engagement

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inaugurated an AI-Enabled Career Intelligence Hub at Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Imphal, and opened the State-Level 32nd National Children’s Science Congress (NCSC) 2026–27, while urging students to embrace technology, remain focused on education and uphold honesty, sincerity and humanity.

The AI-Enabled Career Intelligence Hub, established under the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), is stated to be the first of its kind in the North Eastern region. The initiative aims to provide students with technology-driven career guidance, personalised counselling and information on emerging professional opportunities.

Highlighting the growing influence of artificial intelligence across professions, the Chief Minister said the facility would help students understand their abilities, explore suitable career pathways and prepare for emerging opportunities. He acknowledged the contributions of Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, the Education Department and the school faculty in establishing the facility.

Referring to the prevailing crisis in Manipur, the Chief Minister appreciated the students of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School for maintaining restraint and not resorting to agitation during the challenging period. He urged students and the public to prioritise dialogue over agitation in resolving differences, stating that peaceful engagement was essential for restoring lasting peace in the State.

He also stressed that Classes XI and XII were particularly important in shaping students’ academic and professional futures, adding that humanity and honesty should remain central to individual conduct.

The Chief Minister subsequently opened the State-Level 32nd National Children’s Science Congress 2026–27, organised by Manipur Upliftment Centre in collaboration with Samagra Shiksha, Manipur, under the focal theme, “Understanding Ecosystem for Health and Well-being”.

He inspected the science exhibits and interacted with participating students, encouraging them to nurture scientific curiosity, creativity and innovation. A total of 39 student group leaders from schools across 12 districts have been shortlisted for the State-Level Congress.

Earlier, attending the 27th Foundation Day celebration of Herbert School, Imphal, the Chief Minister called upon students to cultivate honesty, sincerity, hard work and humanity, observing that academic qualifications alone were insufficient without strong personal values.

Sharing experiences from his visits to Singapore and Seoul, he recalled how a taxi driver in Singapore voluntarily reduced a fare after acknowledging that he had taken a longer route, while an elderly woman in Seoul had offered him food despite being a stranger. He cited the incidents as examples of integrity and compassion, saying that such values contributed to the progress of society.

He urged students not to become complacent after completing their education but to pursue their aspirations with determination, commitment and a strong sense of responsibility.

The programmes at Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School were attended by Rajya Sabha MP Adhikarimayum Sharda Devi, Director of Education (Schools) Ng. Bhogendra Meitei, school Principal Dr. Vinita Devi Elangbam, NIELIT Imphal Executive Director Dr. Yumnam Jayanta Singh, Additional State Project Director (Elementary), Samagra Shiksha, Anjali Chongtham, and other officials, teachers and students.
