Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today gave a rousing welcome to Olympian Judoka Shushila Likmabam in New Delhi today. Sushila Devi Likmabam is only India’s participant in Judo at Tokyo 2020. She made the Olympic cut in the women’s extra-lightweight (48kg) division as the highest-ranked Asian judoka outside the top 18 on the Olympic Game Quota (OGQ) rankings list. She is also one of the eight Olympians from North-East states participating in the Tokyo Olympic 2020. Five players among the 119 contingents of India are from the state of Manipur.
In his Facebook post, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh wrote – “I’m happy to meet our Olympian Judoka Likmabam (Shushila Likmabam) in Delhi today. Although she couldn’t win a medal, her journey to reach this place as the only Indian Judo athlete to represent India in the Olympics will inspire many youths in the country. We are really proud of you”.
