CM N. Biren happy seeing Maram women empowered and economically independent

Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today expressed happiness on seeing the proper functioning of the Women’s market shed constructed at Maram in the economic empowerment of the women of Maram and its surrounding area.
In his Facebook page the Chief Minister wrote – “On Nupi Lan Memorial Day, I salute the mothers and sisters of Maram and congratulate them on the opening of Ima Market.”
He also wrote that he is pleased to learn that the Northern Maram Women Organisation (NMWO), Women Market Shed at Maram Bazar is serving the purpose it was intended for in empowering local women to eke out their daily livelihood and improve their economy.
With this market shed, women vendors on the roadside will be eased out and well organised. As per the requirement of the season, currently winter clothes are on sale at the market shed, entirely run by women, N. Biren Singh wrote
Women’s economic and financial empowerment is important for economic growth. The new market shed in Maram bazaar is run entirely by women.
The proposal for the market shed was made to Chief Minister N. Biren Singh on April 4, 2021, while interacting with the Northern Maram women organization through video conferencing on the occasion of Mangkang festival. The Chief Minister during a visit to Maram Khullen on October 30, 2021, approved, sanctioned work orders and started construction of the market shed. The market shed was inaugurated on November 22, 2022, by Senapati DC, Mamoni Diley, after the establishment of the new market many women started actively participating in strengthening local economies and building businesses marketing various items including seasonal clothes, Northern Maram Women Organisation (NMWO) and MKS team took a major role in vigorously pursuing the project making the dream for many women a reality.
