CM, Dy CM, Speaker and other VVIP pay tribute to Anglo-Manipuri war heroes at Khongjom

Imphal, April 23: Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam , Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Th. Lokeshwar , MPCC President TN Haokip, MLA N Biren, MLA K Ranjit and other Ministers and MLAs today pay fitting tribute to the martyrs of Khongjom war who had sacrifices their life fighting the British army at Khongjom battle field in 1891.
Chief Minister along with other VVIPs and VIPS paid floral tribute at the Memorial venue of the war heroes and later offer tarpon at Khongjom River at around 10 am.
Commemorating the Anglo-Manipuri War of 1891, popularly known as the last war of Independence for Manipur, State government has been observing the day to pay honour to the martyrs at the highest level.
The day is also observed at various places organised by different civil society organisations. Many representatives of the  Civil society organisation also paid floral tribute to the memorial site of the war heroes at Khongjom.
