Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today chaired a comprehensive review meeting at the State Secretariat to assess the progress of the New Development Bank (NDB)-assisted Water Supply Project being implemented in Manipur.
The meeting was attended by MLAs and senior officials of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHED). Detailed deliberations were held on the status of ongoing works, fund utilisation, project timelines and strategies to streamline implementation. Updated data inputs were presented to facilitate informed decision-making and accelerate execution.
During the review, the Chief Minister reiterated that priority is being accorded to the construction and upgradation of water supply infrastructure across the state. The project includes the development of elevated service reservoirs, strengthening of treatment facilities and expansion of distribution networks to ensure safe, sustainable and equitable access to drinking water in urban, semi-urban and rural areas.
He stressed the need for strict monitoring, timely completion of works and adherence to quality standards to ensure long-term benefits to the public. The Chief Minister further stated that enhancing water supply systems remains a key component of the government’s broader agenda to strengthen public infrastructure and improve the quality of life of citizens.
The NDB-assisted project is considered a major initiative aimed at modernising water supply systems in the state and supporting the vision of building a developed Manipur in line with the national goal of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
