Cleanliness drives held across Manipur on National Cleanliness Day

National Cleanliness Day and the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 campaign were observed across Manipur on October 2 with cleanliness drives conducted at government offices, hospitals, educational institutions and public places.

In Imphal, the 86 Battalion CRPF, in collaboration with the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) and Lamphel Police Station, conducted a cleanliness drive in and around the RIMS Hospital premises under the aegis of the Inspector General, Manipur-Nagaland Sector, CRPF, and supervision of Commandant Saurabh Kumar Choudhary.

In Kakching, the District Administration organised a cleanliness drive at the DC Office Complex under the aegis of WDC-PMKY 2.0, with participation from the Kakching Municipal Council, district-level officers and staff of various departments. Similar drives were conducted at government offices and institutions, including MSPDCL Kakching Division, PWD, MSRLM, ITI, Sub-Treasury, Horticulture and Soil Conservation offices and forest offices. Educational institutions across the district also participated under the supervision of the Zonal Education Office, Kakching.

In Chandel, the district-wide observance was conducted under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Mamoni Doley, IAS, covering the Mini Secretariat Complex, Multipurpose Hall Complex, Japhou Bazaar, District Hospital, NITI Aayog Building Complex, SDO offices and other public areas. Officials and staff from various departments participated, while SDO/BDO offices at Chandel and Chakpikarong conducted drives in their respective jurisdictions. Schools, colleges, banks and other institutions also joined the campaign.

In Bishnupur, the District Administration conducted cleanliness and social service activities at the Mini Secretariat Complex and various government offices under the guidance of Additional Deputy Commissioner Toijam Opendro. District-level officers and staff cleaned their respective office premises and surrounding areas. The Sub-Divisional Office, Moirang, under SDO Chirom Somerendro, also conducted a cleanliness drive within its campus.

The initiatives sought to promote cleanliness, hygiene and environmental awareness while encouraging collective responsibility among government personnel and the public.
