Cleanliness drive conducted at JNIMS campus following recent floods

A large-scale cleanliness drive was successfully carried out on Sunday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) campus, Imphal, in response to the recent floods that severely affected the area. The drive aimed to restore hygiene across the premises and promote values of youth engagement and community service.
The initiative was jointly organised by the NSS Cell, Manipur University, and the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), Government of Manipur. The effort was supervised by Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, and Dr. Mayengbam Veto Singh, Director of Youth Affairs and Sports.
More than 100 NSS volunteers from various units under the NSS Cell, along with Programme Officers and Youth Officers of the YAS Department, took active part in the operation. Led by Dr. L. Santosh Singh, Programme Coordinator of the NSS Cell, the drive focused on campus beautification, effective waste management, and instilling a sense of civic responsibility and discipline among the youth.
Dr. Santosh Singh, speaking at the end of the drive, expressed gratitude to all volunteers, Programme Officers, and Youth Officers for their commitment and teamwork. He also acknowledged the support extended by the JNIMS authorities, including the Director, Deputy Director, Head of the Department of Dental College, and the Facility Manager.
The drive served as both a disaster response and a testament to youth-driven volunteerism. Organisers underscored the significance of such initiatives in building social responsibility and holistic development.
Following the successful clean-up, the Outpatient Department (OPD) at JNIMS is set to reopen on Monday, June 16, ensuring the timely resumption of essential medical services.
