Cleanliness Drive conducted at Chandel

ICAR – KVK Chandel has conducted cleanliness drive today at Lamphoupasna village, Chandel under Special Campaign 2.0 launched by Government of India. The special campaigned 2.0 is to be conducted from October 2 to October 31, 2022 with a focus on “Swachhata (cleanliness) and reducing pendency in government.” Special Campaign 2.0 encompasses Adoption of villages for Microbial based Agricultural Waste Management using Vermicompost; Awareness programme about Swachhta; Crop Residue Management; Demonstration of technologies on waste and wealth; Cleaning of villages programme with farmers; Orientation of school children on various topics like hygiene, sanitation, cleanliness; Cleaning of offices and campus and disposal of scraps, space freed, etc. and Timely disposal of references.
Today event was conducted at St. Dominic School, Lamphoupasna village, Chandel. Awareness on cleanliness was conducted at the school and cleanliness drive was conducted in the school premises along with the school children. A drawing competition on the topic “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” was also conducted to instill the young mind. The resource persons, for the awareness programme, were Dr. A. Ameeta Devi, Head in-charge & SMS (Animal Science); Ps. Lavid Anal, SMS (Horticulture) and Ts. Leenda Monsang, SMS (Plant Breeding), ICAR – KVK Chandel.
Later on, demonstration of vermicompost technology was conducted with the farmers of Lamphoupasna village. Ps. Lavid Anal, SMS (Horticulture) informed the farmers that Vermicompost is the process by which worms are used to convert organic materials (usually wastes) into a humuslike material known as vermicompost. She elaborated that vermicompost is stable, fine granular organic manure, which enriches soil quality by improving its physicochemical and biological properties and it is highly useful for raising seedlings and crop production. She inculcated that vermicompost is popular major component of organic farming system, which will benefits the human being and the future generation.
