Civil Aviation Minister to visit Imphal

Imphal, Oct 26: A day after DoNER Minister Dr. Jitendra had announced to introduced Mobile Air Dispensary in the state of Manipur, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju is visiting the state on November 3. During the visit it is likely that the state government may discuss about the introduction of regional connectivity through helicopter. Mention may be made that Dr. Jitendra had also assured to look upon on whether there is a feasibility of introducing helicopter service between Imphal to Jiribam. The state government may likely to take up the issue with the Civil Aviation Minister.
The state government is likely to sign a memorandum of understanding with the Civil Aviation Ministry under Udan Scheme.  The Minister will be accompanied by 6 other top officials of the Ministry.
Mention may be made that road connectivity has been a major problem ahead of the upcoming election and the government is taking the matter with extra seriousness.
On the other hand, the visit is significant as the only Air India service between Imphal to Aizwal is likely to be ceased from October 30 this year for reason best known to the Ministry. The Mizoram CM has written a letter to reconsider the cancellation of the air service to the Ministry.
