Imphal, Oct 14: Coalition for Indigenous Rights Campaign (CIRCA), Manipur is all set to observe October 18 as Manipur National Day.
In a press meet held at Sana Konung which was attended by Somerandro Thockchom, Convenor CIRCA, Somerandro stated that, CIRCA had started observing October 18 as Manipur State Assembly Day for the first time on Oct 18, 2015 at Oinam, Bishnupur district to commemorate the day when elected members of the first state Assembly had its first sitting on Oct 18, 1948. He further continued that, after the formation of CIRCA on August 21, 2016, it held a people convention under the theme “Restoration movement for pre-merger political status of Manipur” and taken five resolutions out of which the fourth resolution decided to observe Oct 18 every year as Manipur National Day.
