Chief Minister pays tribute to Pulwama martyrs; CRPF holds remembrance ceremony

Manipur Chief Minister Y. Khemchand Singh on Friday paid homage to the 40 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force who lost their lives in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack, stating that their sacrifice would forever remain in the nation’s memory.
In a message posted on X, the Chief Minister remembered the fallen jawans and stated that their courage, dedication and devotion to the nation continue to inspire generations. He conveyed that the people of Manipur stand in solidarity with the bereaved families and reaffirmed their commitment to protecting the unity, integrity and sovereignty of the country. He added that the legacy of the martyrs would endure as a lasting source of inspiration.
Former Chief Minister N. Biren Singh also paid tribute, stating that the brave personnel chose duty over life and that their sacrifice strengthened the spirit of the nation. He said the country would remain indebted to the martyrs whose example would guide future generations.
Meanwhile, the 143 Battalion of the CRPF stationed at Lamphelpat, Imphal, observed Pulwama Remembrance Day with solemnity and reverence. Ravinder Sharma, Commandant of 143 Battalion, along with officers and personnel of the unit, paid homage to the martyrs. Addressing the gathering, he spoke on the significance of the day and recalled the supreme sacrifice made by the personnel in the line of duty. A wreath-laying ceremony and Shok Shastra were conducted as a mark of honour and respect, and all ranks reaffirmed their commitment to safeguarding the unity, integrity and security of the nation.
On February 14, 2019, a suicide bomber rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF convoy on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway at Lethpora in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, killing 40 personnel in one of the deadliest attacks in the region.
Tributes were paid across the country in remembrance of the martyrs and their supreme sacrifice in service of the nation.
