Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and others file nomination today

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh has filed his nomination papers from the Heingang Assembly constituency today. He was accompanied by Manipur BJP president A Sharda Devi while filing his nomination papers to the returning officer of the Heingang Assembly Constituency. BJP MLA L. Suchindro (Yaima) and some of the BJP office bearers were also seen companying the Chief Minister while submitting his nomination paper.
“I filed the nomination papers today as a BJP candidate from Heingang constituency at the office of the returning officer. I extend my best wishes to all BJP candidates, who will file nominations for the upcoming election,” said CM Biren Singh after filing his nomination papers.
He said that BJP is all set to release the party election manifesto soon.
“We will not bluff the people with false promises which cannot be converted into reality”, N. Biren Singh said attacking to Congress party’s election manifesto without naming the political party.
He said that main priority of the election manifesto will be on the employment of youths, empowering of social sectors, improving and setting up of Higher Education sector, modernization of the Sports infrastructures, Agriculture, Horticulture among others.
The Chief Minister also appealed the people to restrain violence during election campaign.
“Let’s make this election a peaceful free and fair one”, N. Biren said and added that for the BJP there were some minor problems but after talking with the intending candidates the matter has been settled and today all the intending candidates have stood together to fight the election.
The fifth day of the filing of nominations also witnessed four other candidates filing their nominations in the Imphal East district.
Khurai AC MLA Leishangthem Susindro Singh also filed his nomination from BJP ticket at the office of RO, 3-Khurai AC, Elangbam Amuthoi Khanganba.
On the other hand, Kshetrimayum Biren Singh of 8-Lamlai AC also filed his nomination at the office of RO Surma Thiyam. He filed his nomination from Janata Dal (United) (JD-U) ticket.
Wahengbam Rojit (alias Bullet) of the JD-U filed his nomination from 4-Kshetrigao AC at the office of the RO Subinson Sapam.
Keisham Ningthemjao from 7-Andro AC also filed his nomination at the office of the RO Karam Uma Devi. He filed from the INC ticket.
Polling of the Heingang Assembly constituency along with 38 where the chief Minister is contesting will be held in the first phase i.e., on February 27, 2022. While the last date for filing of the nomination for the first phase election is on February 8, 2022, the scrutiny of the nomination will be held on February 9 and the last date for withdrawal is February 11. The counting will be held on March 10.
As of now, the congress party has filed their candidate in Heingang assembly constituency and so far no political party has filed any candidate, which means that there may be a straight fight between the INC candidate and the BJP candidate who is the Chief Minister of Manipur.
