Chief Minister N. Biren inspects construction of monolith at Saheed Minar

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today inspected the progress of the ongoing construction of a monolith inside the premises of Saheed Minar, Bir Tikendrajit Park.
Speaking to media persons, N. Biren Singh said that the State Cabinet approved the construction of the monolith in memory of those exiled martyrs who fought valiantly against the mighty British forces. The Chief Minister further informed that the monolith would be dedicated to those unsung heroes of Manipur who were exiled in Andaman and Nicobar Islands (popularly known as Kalapani Cellular Jail) after the Anglo-Manipur War 1891. The names of the martyrs would be engraved on the monolith, he added.
Later, the Chief Minister also inspected the ongoing construction of Civil Secretariat at Mantripukhri and Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwangshangbam.
Minister for PHE Losii Dikho, Minister for Forest and Environment Awangbow Newmai, Minister for CAF&PD Th. Satyabrata and others accompanied the Chief Minister during the inspection.
