In a pivotal move aimed at fostering growth and prosperity in Chandel district, Chief Minister N Biren Singh spearheaded a cabinet meeting at the DC office in Chandel. N Biren Singh inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of a comprehensive slate of initiatives spanning connectivity, infrastructure, health, and education, amounting to a staggering Rs 213.99 crore.
A total of 10 projects totaling Rs 126.54 crore were inaugurated in Chandel District today. The projects inaugurated today are Model Residential School at Mantri Pantha worth Rs.25.62 crore, Girls’ Hostel for Minority Students at Chakpikarong implemented by Manipur Minorities and OBC Economic Development Society (MOBEDS) worth Rs.2.50 crore, and Upgradation of Phiran Leihao PS to UPS, implemented by DRDA Chandel under Minority Affairs worth Rs.0.67 crore. Construction of 150 ft Bailey Bridge over Chakpi river at Mantri Pantha, Chandel constructed by PWD worth Rs.5.68 crore. A total of 5 projects implemented by PHED that includes, Retrofitting of Water Supply Scheme at Totun, Songjang, Liwa Sarei and Lambung with a total worth of Rs.2.66 crore. District Sports Complex at Chandel under YAS implemented by MDS worth Rs.18.41 crore and Improvement/Strengthening to 2-lane of Pallel-Chandel Section of NH-102 C by NHIDCL under MoRTH worth Rs. 71 crore were inaugurated today.
Additionally, CM N Biren Singh laid the foundation stones for 15 projects with a cumulative worth of Rs 86.45 crore. These projects, set to contribute significantly to the upliftment of Chandel district are Chandel, Chakpikarong and Khengjoy Police Station, to be implemented by MPHC Ltd, Imphal under Police Department with a total worth of Rs. 2.19 crore, Construction of Football Ground with natural grass at Chakpikarong by MPHC Ltd, Imphal under YAS worth Rs.8.52 crore, Government Children Homes at Chandel by Engineering Cell (H&FW) under Social Welfare Department worth Rs.1.35 crore, construction of Bailey Bridge over Maha river at Khuringmul by PWD worth Rs. 5 crore, Construction of Bailey bridge at Lamphou Pasna over Chakpi river by PWD worth Rs. 5 crore, construction of PHSC Yangoullen Chandel worth Rs.0.56 crore and 2 BTQ at PHC Sajik Tampak, Chandel District worth Rs. 2.50 crore by Engineering Cell(H&FW) under Health Department. Construction of 10 Bedded Integrated AYUSH Hospital by Engineering Cell(H&FW) under Health Department(AYUSH) worth Rs. 6.97 crore, Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme(RDSS) by MSPDCL under Power Department worth Rs. 48.10 and setting up of Memorial Park as a tribute to HT Thungam, first state cabinet minister from Chandel district worth Rs.6.26 crore were approved.
Expressing optimism about the transformative impact of these initiatives, Chief Minister N Biren Singh posted on X, “Chaired a cabinet meeting at DC Office, Chandel. With cooperation and support from all sections, we will achieve various milestones in terms of connectivity, infrastructure, health, and education, etc for the overall growth and well-being of the people of Chandel.”
The cabinet meeting was attended by several key ministers, including Thongam Biswajit, Yumnam Khemchand, Konthoujam Govindas, Awangbow Newmai, Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Leishangthem Susindro, Heikham Dingo, Thounaojam Basantakumar, Khashim Vashum, along with several MLAs including Thongam Shanti, Soraisam Kebi, S. Ibomcha, Sapam Kunjakeshwor, Thangjam Arunkumar, Usham Deben, Khuraijam Loken, Kongkham Robindro, Mayanglambam Rameshwar and high-ranking officials from the government and the Police Department.
