Chief Minister inaugurates Central Bank of India, Phungyar Branch

Chief Minister N. Biren Singh today virtually inaugurated Central Bank of India, Phungyar Branch, Kamjong District at a function held at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. The newly inaugurated branch will be the ninth among Central Bank of India branches operating in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, N. Biren said that opening of the bank branch, which was a long standing demand of the people of Phungyar, would be much helpful in the implementation of various welfare schemes of the Government. Opening of banks in remote areas is very important for bringing inclusive development in the State by improving the living standard of the people, he added.
He further stated that cashless transactions and Direct Benefit Transfer have now become very common under the supervision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to open more bank branches, especially in backward areas, besides taking initiatives for financial inclusion of everyone. He also expressed his thankfulness to the bank officials for their contributions in making the villagers easier to access banking services by opening the branch.
The function was attended by Advisor to Chief Minister Dr. Sapam Ranjan, Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Kumar, representatives of Central Bank of India, NABARD, Reserve Bank of India, State Bank of India and senior Government officials among others.
