District Administration, Chandel distributed relief assistance to the Sehao villagers who took refuge at temporary Relief Camp located inside the Office complex of Khangbarol BDO under Khengjoy Sub-Division in Chandel District on Wednesday. over the relief assistance was handed over to the villagers of Sehao who have fled their home after armed cadres of Kuki National Liberation Front (KNLF) brutally beaten up some of villagers including the Village Chief and some labourers. The relief assistance which was distributed in presence of the Thadou Students’ Association (TSA) Chandel includes 10 quintals of rice, 50 kgs of Potatoes, 50 Kgs of Dal and 25 Kgs of Salts. Village said that the villagers of Sehao were profoundly grateful to the Deputy Commissioner and other staff of Chandel District Administration for providing the relief assistance. And we also expressed our heartfelt thanks to 6 Dogra Regiment, Thadou Students’ Association, Kuki Students’ Organisation and other individuals who have shown generosity towards the Villagers of Sehao, he added. While enquired about their returning, Village Chief Seikhomang Haokip told that we have received an information about KNLF cadres being shifted from their Semol Camp but their camp were not yet dismantle till date. So, there is no question of returning home until and
unless, the government and the concern authority completely remove the KNLF cadres in the area and dismantle their camp located at Semol, added the Chief. Vum Khongsai, President of TSA Chandel also told the media persons that the student body came to visit the villagers of Sehao in connection with the distribution of Relief materials provided by the District Administration and to take account of the situation there. The President further said that considering the hardship face by the villagers, the Student body urged the Village Chief and the Villagers to return home. However, our humble request was turn down by the villagers as the camp of KNLF cadres at Semol was not yet dismantled. As such, the students’ body appealed the State Government and concern authority to remove the KNLF Camp from Semol so that the villagers and the people of the area can live peacefully.
