Centre sanction another National Highway for Sikkim

The Centre has sanctioned the construction of another National Highway from Bagrakote in West Bengal to Gangtok in Sikkim.
The new 248-kilometer-long national highway will connect Gangtok to Bagrakote via Ranipool, Pakyong, Rorathang and Rhenock. The job will be completed by the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDC) at an estimated cost of around Rs.2300 crores. Approval has also been given for the construction of a parallel two-lane alternate national highway along the opposite side of the Teesta River up to Sevoke in West Bengal.
