Jiribam, Nov 28:

Under the National Jal Jeevan Mission, the government of India launched a scheme to provide every rural household tap water whereas it remains a pipe dream in the Borobekra Sub-Division of Jiribam District.
On August 2019, the Union government announced the Jal Jeevan Mission to provide a functional tap connection to every household by ensuring potable drinking water for all.
Whereas, under the project, the water supply scheme had taken up at various places in the Borobekra Sub-Division of Jiribam District.
But the irony was that the construction work for the water supply scheme at the various locations of Borobekra Sub-Division was started in the year 2020 but the supply of tap water yet remains a dream for the people of the area.
While talking with the localities, they said the government had taken up the project for the welfare of the public but whether the construction work of infrastructure was completed or not they were not aware of it. Whereas the constructed water reservoir are turning into a jungle and remains non-functional.
They added, the availability of tap water supply remains just a dream for them.
They appealed to the government of Manipur to complete the work and make it functional at the earliest so that people of Borobekra Sub-Division of Jiribam District get tap water in their households.
