Imphal, July 19: The state government was directed to take up immediate necessary measures for construction of the Sports University. This was relayed by health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing who accompanied Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh during the inaugural function of 100 bedded wards for the Churachandpur district hospital.Speaking at the sideline of the inaugural function of the 100 bedded wards for the Churachandpur District Hosptal, Tonsing said that a representative of the Union Ministry had called on Chief Minister Okram Ibobi while he was about to deliver his speech and relayed him for taking up immediate measures – like sorting out of the location for construction of sports university. The union government has allotted rupees 100 crores for establishment of sports University in the state during the recently concluded budget session of the Parliament.With the inauguration of the 100 bedded wards, the district hospital has now 160 beds. Speaking during the inaugural function Chief Minister Okram Ibobi assures for uninterrupted power supply to the Blood bank of the Churachandpur district hospital besides pre-paid service to 5000 house hold in the district head quarter. He also appealed the people of the district to make a common platform which includes all ethnic communities of the state to promote peace and harmony in the region.The Chief Minister was accompanied by Health Minister Phungzathang Tonsing and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam besides officials of the state Health department.Later, the Chief Minister inaugurate the Mini Secretariat building of Bishnupur district.
