CCSK to commemorate 77th Anniversary of Manipur Legislative Assembly’s 1st Session

The Committee of Civil Societies Kangleipak (CCSK) will commemorate the 77th anniversary of the first session of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, held on October 18, 1948. The event aims to honour the historic significance of this milestone in shaping Manipur’s democratic governance.
The commemoration is scheduled at the Easter Sporting Club Community Hall, Nongmeibung, on Saturday, October 18, 2025. According to CCSK, the programme will include discussions, exhibitions, and presentations highlighting the Assembly’s role in promoting democracy, legislative processes, and citizen participation in the state.
CCSK said the initiative will also serve to educate the younger generation about Manipur’s legislative history and inspire active civic engagement. Various civil society groups will participate to ensure wide community involvement, reinforcing the importance of democratic values and the state’s political heritage.
Officials emphasised that the anniversary provides an opportunity for citizens to reflect on Manipur’s journey in self-governance and the responsibilities of both leaders and people in strengthening democracy.
