The three-day training programme on cane and bamboo product preparation under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) scheme entered its second day at Lambung Community Hall, Chandel. The programme is being organised by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Chandel.
On the second day, 60 trainees continued to learn various cane and bamboo crafts and designs from master trainers. Addressing the participants, Dr. N. Munal Meitei, DFO Chandel, urged the trainees to put the acquired skills into practice to generate income. He remarked that the programme would be considered successful only when the training translates into sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Munal also highlighted the importance of ensuring a steady supply of raw materials. He stressed the need to plant cane and bamboo in vacant lands, which would not only provide a reliable source of income but also help maintain ecological balance.
