Dr. Gangte spoke about the rights of women and their rights are continued to be violated in Manipur a state known for its high regards for women. He said that right to self determination has been recognised as inherent rights of people. However, this right is many sometimes misinterpreted by various community of the state that brings chaos and misunderstanding amongst people of Manipur. Right to life is inseparable with socio economic and cultural rights. He also stressed on the Rio Declaration on Environment that expressed the commitment of International community. He also mentioned the need for checking influx of Illegal migration in Jiribam.

It is a milestone document that proclaimed the inalienable rights which everyone is inherently entitled to as a human being.
Drafted by representatives of diverse legal and cultural backgrounds from all regions of the world, the Declaration sets out universal values and a common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations. It establishes the equal dignity and worth of every person.
This year, the Human Rights Day kicks off a year-long campaign to mark the upcoming 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
