A month-long awareness campaign under the 19th Disturbance-Free Educational Zone Demand 2026 was launched today at Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, Imphal, with a renewed call to protect the education sector from political interference, corruption and disruptions.
The campaign, organised by the Co-ordinating Committee on Disturbance-Free Educational Zone Demand 2026, is being held under the theme “Save Education, Save Manipur, Save the Future.” The initiative aims to mobilise public support for creating a peaceful and conducive academic environment across the State.
The inaugural programme was attended by the committee’s Chairman, Moirangthem Lokendra; Laishram Joy Khuman of the All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association (AMRPSWA); Laishram Jugindro, Convenor of COTA; Oinam Romesh Meetei, President of DESAM; and Dr. Vinita Devi Elangbam, Principal of Tamphasana Girls’ Higher Secondary School, as chief guests and speakers.
Following the formal awareness programme, participants held a slogan campaign in front of the school, demanding comprehensive reforms in the education sector. The slogans called for adequate allocation of funds and educational resources to schools, an end to political interference in education, and the elimination of corruption, nepotism and favouritism in the department.
The campaign also demanded the separation of the Directorates of School Education and University and Higher Education, appointment of qualified teachers on merit, greater priority for the education sector, removal of individuals involved in malpractice from educational institutions, and collective efforts to safeguard the future of Manipur’s students.
