The 8th Foundation Day of Coalition Against Drugs and Alcohol (CADA),Manipur was observed here today at its Head Office at Pureiromba Khongnang Makhong, Palace Gate,Imphal.The function was graced by Ibungosana Ningthemcha (Dr.BR Ambedkar National & International Awardee),Former NCB Regional Unit Imphal, Advacate Y.Ratankumar, president of CADA, and Md.Nasir Ahmed,Deputy Superintendent of Excise Govt. of Manipur as chief guest,president and Guest of honour respectively while Aheibam Biren,Retd.Director Art & Culture, Govt. of Manipur and Oinam Natum,Retd.Head Master of Chingamakha High School were the Special guests.Speaking on the occasion, Ibungosana Ningthemcha asserted that NGOs were helping many drug addicts to cope with their lives and to bring them to mainstream and said, It is important that CADA volunteers are helping drug addicts advising them not to take the intoxicant substances, Ibungosana added.Md.Nasir said, “Many drug addicts in the state are of young age so there is a need of intensive awareness programmes particularly in the schools. There are people who want to joint hand to fight this menace but one has not been able to extend it fully “. President of CADA, Advocate Y.Ratankumar stated that the ill-effects of drug addiction need to be defined from the grass root level in order to prevent the menace.
