Budget session shortened ; will have only 13 days sitting instead of 19 days; MPCC spokesperson terms the shortening as unreasonable

Imphal, July 18: 2nd Budget session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly , which is scheduled to hold from July 20 and had announced 18 days sitting have been shortened by 3 days, which means the budget session will have only 13 sitting days. On July 10, a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) Manipur Legislative Assembly had convened a meeting and as decided, the Assembly Secretariat had issued a notification for the 2nd budget session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly . However , another meeting of the BAC was conducted today afternoon and resolved to shortened the Budget session . The session will have its sitting till August 16. Source from the state government functionary said that the decision to shorten the budget session is due to the present crisis of natural calamities due to incessant rain. On the other hand Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) spokesperson, Khumukcham Joykishan while speaking to Imphal Times said that the decision of the N. Biren Singh led government to shorten the Budget session after notification had already been issued has surprised him. Taking to Imphal Times the Congress spokesperson said that as the budget has only 13 days sitting most of the time will be consumed while passing matters related to over 50 government departments. He said, important issues like that of the Inner Line Permit System, Indo-Naga Framework agreement which is a threat to the state of Manipur and the present flood crisis will not have time to discuss in the session. Joykishan further said that some of the question that he had submitted had been cancelled due to limitation of time
