A hand grenade was found this morning in front of Vishal Mega Mart, located near Thoubal Police Station, triggering panic in the area.
According to police sources, the explosive was spotted by morning walkers. A note reading “KCP (PWG) Next IED Blast” was reportedly found near the grenade.
A police team from Thoubal Police Station later arrived at the spot and safely defused the bomb at around 6:05 am.
Sources further stated that the proscribed outfit KCP (PWG) had earlier reportedly warned Vishal Mega Mart to shift from its present location in Thoubal. Market vendors had also allegedly objected to the establishment being located close to Thoubal Keithel and demanded its relocation to another site.
