The body of another woman was discovered today morning, days after the bodies of a woman and two children, thought to be part of the six people missing from Jiribam, since Monday, were found floating in Barak river.
The body was retrieved from the Barak River by police in Assam’s Cachar district, which borders Jiribam. It was found further downstream from the location where the three other bodies were discovered. Although the body found on Sunday has not yet been identified, it is suspected to be one of the six individuals who went missing.
Tensions flared up again in Jiribam today morning after a photo of the body was widely circulated. Arson attempts were also reported in the Kalinagar area of Jiribam. Internet services has been suspended in Jiribam and Pherzawl, following the incident.
