Body of 11-yrs-old boy found after 3 days at Khoupum dam

After an exhaustive search for almost three days, the decomposed body of an 11-year-old boy, who drowned at Khoupum dam on Sunday, was retrieved around 11:30 am today, said sources.
As per sources, NDRF, SDRF and local volunteers were trying to retrieve the victim’s body since the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
The victim has been identified as Pouchuimei Riamei, son of Isaac Riamei of Duithanjang village under Khoupum police station in Noney district.
The incident occurred around 3 pm on Sunday when Pouchuimei Riamei along with his friends were swimming in the dam when he drowned suddenly where the water was 20 feet deep.
The victim was studying at Class 5 at English Boarding School at Khoupum, said the source.
On Monday, the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) chairman Dinganglung Gangmei (Dipu) visited the accident spot and took stock of the ongoing search operation.
