To commemorate the death anniversary of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and friends, a Blood Donation Camp was jointly organised by Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK) Thoubal and Association of Voluntary Blood Donors (AVBD) Thoubal and a Knowledge Competition on “Catch The Rain” was organised by NYK Chandel and St Joseph’s School Chandel.
The Blood Donation Camp was held on Shaheed Diwas, 23rd March 2023 at District Hospital (DH) Thoubal by NYK Thoubal and AVBD Thoubal in collaboration with CARD Khsetrileikai and Blood Centre & Transfusion Unit, DH Thoubal participated by over 30 students and youths of Thoubal district, and the donors were felicitated by the Medical Superintendent DH Thoubal, H Rohinikumar Singh after a short message on the patriotic activities of martyrs Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev.
NYK Chandel also organised various Knowledge Competitions- Water Quiz, Slogan Writing, Painting and Essay Writing with the students of St Joseph’s School Chandel followed by a Shaheed Diwas program in the school premises during which the winners of the competitions were felicitated. The program was opened with a welcome address by Alfred Monsang, Headmaster St Joseph’s School Chandel followed by Keynote Speech by Michael Thangminlien Mate, District Youth Officer, NYK Chandel who spoke about the valiant sacrifices of the young martyrs and that patriotism and nation-building today would be activities like blood donation, tree plantation etc and led the gathering in a Water Pledge. Resource person Ts. Khiningkham Anal, Cluster Co-ordinator MSRLM spoke on the importance of Rainwater Harvesting and catching the rains when it falls where it falls. The winners of the competition were handed prizes by the dignitaries and the program was closed with a Poster Campaign on Catch the Rain by the students and volunteers. The various winners of the competition are as follows:
1. Essay Writing: 1st – Ts Shiimhring, 2nd – Chongneiphal Haokip, 3rd – Hb Phowlrin Anal
2. Slogan Writing: 1st – H.L. Changdemanna Anal, 2nd – Ts Toningkham Anal, 3rd – Thumli Moningwar
3. Painting: 1st – L.T. Afifa, 2nd – Ringaidam Lamkang, 3rd – Th Previla Monsang
4. Water Quiz: 1st – Nangsha Elvin, 2nd – Thumli Moningwar Monsang, 3rd – L.V Alisa
