Imphal, Aug 31:

The residence and shop of Michael Lamjathang Haokip, Spokesperson for BJP Manipur Pradesh, were set ablaze by unidentified miscreants in Peniel village, Churachandpur district, earlier today. This marks the third attack on Haokip’s property. The latest incident follows a similar attack on August 25, when armed miscreants targeted his residence in Phatthei In, Peniel village.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh has strongly condemned the arson. Posting on his X account CM N Biren Singh said, “I strongly condemn the arson attack at Shri Micheal Lamjathang Haokip’s parents’ residence for the third time today. The repeated targeting of our people (Thadou in this case), often under the guise of peace rallies, is a deeply troubling trend.”
N Biren Singh assured that those responsible for the attacks would be held accountable. He also highlighted that action would be taken against officials who failed to provide adequate security despite prior warnings of potential threats.
