The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh Spokesperson, L. Bashanta Sharma, has appealed to the people of Manipur, urging them to support Thockchom Satyabrata Singh, the legislator from the Yaiskul constituency, during this critical period. Speaking on behalf of the voters who elected Satyabrata, Sharma emphasized that now is not the time for the MLA to resign but rather to stand united against forces attempting to divide Manipur.
Sharma argued that the premature resignation of Satyabrata, who is also the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, could undermine the ongoing legal processes, particularly the disqualification proceedings against Kuki legislators.
“At this critical juncture, the resignation of Speaker Satyabrata or any other legislators would weaken the voice of the people, as legislators are their direct representatives,” Sharma stated. He further added that while the time for resignation might come in the future, the current circumstances demand that elected representatives remain steadfast in their roles to address pressing challenges.
