BJP Spokesperson Ch. Bijoy today said that the issue of the Citizen Amendment Bill which was passed in the Lok Sabha give an opportunity to the government of Manipur to urge the centre for giving assent to the pending “Manipur Peoples’ (Protection ) Bill”, which was passed by the state assembly for protection of the Indigenous people of the state.
Speaking to reporters at its temporary office located at Canchipur here in Imphal , Ch. Bijoy, the spokesperson of the BJP, which is leading the government in the state slammed the opposition party for intimidating the general party. He said that the kind of propaganda has confused the public and it goes out of hand then it will be hard for the government to correct the misconception incite to the people. He also added that whatever the Chief Minister of Manipur has stated was true.
“The mass protest against the Citizen Amendment Bill in the North East region have give an opportunity to the government of Manipur”, Bijoy said, adding that the government has been given an opportunity to urge centre for giving assent to the Manipur Peoples’ Protection Bill which was passed by the state assembly.
“This time the president will give assent to the Bill as all our leader including the Chief Minister is at Delhi to pressure the issue, and I am sure that our government will be first to implement the Manipur Peoples’ (Protection ) Bill.
