BJP reshuffles national team; Sambit Patra retained as North-East Coordinator

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its new team of national office-bearers and assigned key organisational responsibilities, retaining Dr Sambit Patra as the party’s North-East coordinator and appointing Rajiv Babbar as North-East joint coordinator.

The appointments are part of the organisational restructuring under BJP national president Nitin Nabin, with several leaders being assigned new responsibilities in the party’s national organisation.

Patra’s continuation as North-East coordinator assumes significance as the BJP seeks to strengthen its organisational presence across the region amid complex political developments, particularly in Manipur.

The appointment of Babbar as joint coordinator is expected to reinforce the party’s coordination between its central leadership and organisational units across the eight North-Eastern states.

The BJP’s latest restructuring also includes appointments to key national positions, including national vice-presidents, general secretaries and secretaries, as the party reorganises its central organisational machinery.

For Manipur, Patra’s retention is particularly significant given his existing role in coordinating the party’s affairs in the North-East and the political challenges confronting the state.

The new arrangement places renewed focus on the BJP’s organisational strategy in the region, with Patra continuing in the lead coordination role and Babbar providing additional organisational support.

The appointments take effect immediately, according to the BJP’s announcement.
