Bimol Akoijam gets 7-day transit anticipatory bail

Congress Lok Sabha MP from Inner Manipur, Angomcha Bimol Akoijam, has been granted 7-day transit anticipatory bail following an FIR lodged by the Chief Security Officer of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), according to information available.

The temporary relief is intended to allow Akoijam to approach the appropriate court for further legal protection in connection with the case. Transit anticipatory bail does not amount to a final determination of the allegations or the merits of the case.

The development comes amid a political controversy surrounding the Congress MP. Further details are awaited to establish the precise circumstances of the FIR and the conditions attached to the bail order.
